TO END ITS 40TH anniversary season, Ballet Philippines offers Filipinos a contemporary ballet masterpiece with “Neo-Filipino 2010: Dance in a Time of Change.” The show, directed by Paul Alexander Morales, will be mounted at the CCP Little Theater, March 5-7.
A series that laid down its roots in Denisa Reyes’ New York concert and made its way to the Philippines in 1991, “Neo-Filipino” features the works by leading choreographers, including collaborations from across other art disciplines.
With the elections nearing, “Neo-Filipino” expresses the concerns of the changing times, featuring dances by talented young choreographers whose vision and aspiration reflect what it is to be a Filipino today.
This year’s “Neo-Filipino” features Ballet Philippines ballerinas Carissa Adea and Ea Torrado in the thought-provoking “Rey-Sing” and “Two of You,” and marks the return of BP alumni Dwight Rodrigazo (now artistic director of his own company) and Novy Bereber, who will present his own “To Whom It May Concern,” a piece dedicated to the Filipino artist amid globalization.
Meanwhile, resident choreographer Alden Lugnasin premieres “Words and Phrases,” inspired by the paintings of Bienvenido Benitez and a collaboration with award-winning filmmaker Emerson Reyes.
“Neo-Filipino 2010” also marks the re-launching of Ballet Philippines II, which celebrates its 20th-anniversary season since Agnes Locsin introduced “Bagong Sayaw” to the country.
Ballet Philippines also hits the road in February to take its masterpieces to Visayas and Mindanao. Catch the premier dance company during its Vis-Min Tour in the following locations: Panabo (Feb. 15) and Tagum (Feb. 16).

PEAS IN THE SOUTHEAST ASIA. PHILIPPINES WE GO HARD!
Haven’t you guys heard that too much of something is bad enough. Haha. Yeah, you probably have guessed it right, I’m just a bit lazy to get something going. Actually, I’m a bit pissed because I can’t find the fire-wire for my video cam. I’m supposedly be uploading some vids from the Skechers 4 Kick-off party. Anyway, be expecting them on the next two or three days.
Okay, so what I have right now is the girl from Oprah, Charice, in some Celine Dion concert. My mom likes to sing along with this song so hell, ima post it. Seriously, this girl got game. Be sure to not skip Celine Dion’s introduction, man, Charice really is inspiring. Just goes to show how talented Filipinos (yes! even if I try hard to talk in english-slangish-thing I forbid myself from calling Filipinos – flips or something like that) are and that their skills and capabilities are at par if not better than the rest of the world!
Here we go!
