A different kind of dancing comes to Burgos street (a section of which is often referred to as the red light district), and the term “dancing for money” takes on a whole new meaning. The Clara Ramona Centro de Danza Flamenca will be holding a fundraising show entitled “Mas Flamenco” on April 29, 2010, Thursday at 8:00 PM. This fundraiser will feature Clara Ramona & Co. dancers and is held to raise money for dance scholarships for those who are talented but can’t afford to attend classes or the May summer Workshop, as well as, to promote this still relatively unknown art form.

The bailaoras (dancers) will each give a solo performance according to different flamenco palos or rhythms. The ensemble will consist of Chloe Cheung (guest from Hong Kong) ~ Seguiriyas, Maradee de Guzman ~ Tangos, Liza Diño ~ Tientos, Danica Lopez ~ Fandangos, Tami Monsod ~ Farruca, and Jameela Perez ~ Rumba Flamenca.

The tablao style show will be held at the newly opened Clara Ramona Centro de Danza Flamenca studio at 5062 P. Burgos St. corner Guerrero, (near A-Venue Makati Ave). Makati. Tickets are Php 700, inclusive of the show, Sangria and Spanish tapas.

Fun and Energetic, Learn and Improve… We are inviting everyone from 3 yrs
old to 60 yrs old to join us in a variety of dance classes over the
summer. The workshop welcomes all ages and encourages everyone to enroll
into as many classes as their hearts’ desire.

Ballet, Jazz, Funk, Hip Hop, Tap, Cheerdance/Gymnastics, Musical Theatre,
Broadway Jazz, Contemporary, Ballroom, Bellydance, Yoga, Latin Fusion and
a great variety of dance classes every day.

Symmetry’s (formerly STOMP) SUMMER WORKSHOP has been an exciting stop for
students from all over Manila for over 20 years.

Many students and teachers return from year to year knowing they are
guaranteed a variety of classes and teachers to help them enhance their
technique and knowledge of dance. All our teachers have worked in the
performing arts industry and enthusiastically pass on their skills to the
budding stars of the future. You will definitely walk away an improved and
informed dancer after you have experienced our Summer Workshop.

We have fabulous mirrored studios, a reception area, a veranda for lunches
and kitchen facilities.

Symmetry is producing dancers that have found their place in major dance
companies, here and abroad and in major musical productions.

The workshop will culminate in a grand summer recital sometime end of May
or first week of June where the students will showcase all that they have
learned over the summer. The venue of the recital will be announced soon.
