RED BULL BC ONE ALL STARS HOLD FREE WORKSHOPS FOR MANILA’S B-BOYS

16th June 2012, Manila, Philippines – Red Bull Blue & Silver (of European origin) flew B-Boy legends of today, Cico (Italy) of the Red Bull BC One All Stars, and B-Boy Wing (Korea) of the Jinjo crew to Manila to host a series of workshops for aspiring talent in the country. Over a hundred of Manila’s B-Boys showed up for the event and learned tips from some of the world’s best on how to improve their technical skills during these 1-hour classes. As part of the Red Bull BC One South East Asian Tour, Red Bull also flew in Red Bull BC One All Star, Pelezinho (Brazil) to join the B-Boys in a city tour of Manila, where a stunning photo story was developed showcasing some of the city’s most iconic and historical sites.

Red Bull Blue & Silver (of European origin) will host the inaugural Red Bull BC One South East Asian Cypher in Singapore on the 23rd June to help promote the vibrant and growing communities of B-boys in the Asian region who are often looking for such platforms to showcase their skills. “Supporting the culture scene and developing local and Asian B-boys is something that makes us at Red Bull very happy to do. There is a definite need for support in this scene and we will do all we can to give aspiring talent a platform for success”, said a Red Bull spokesperson.

3 of Philippines’ best B-Boys, B-Boy Reflex, Hogan and Haslah, will also represent the nation at this competition which will see them battle against 13 other regional B-boys from Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia for the title of “The One”. The winner of this cypher will advance to the New Zealand Qualifier stage where he will again have to battle and win to make the final stage in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil at the end of the year. One of the 3 Philippine representatives is 23 year old B-Boy Haslah who says, “This is the first time that Philippines will join Red Bull BC One, and I’m fortunate to be part of this international event. As of now, the bboy community here in the Philippines is starting to grow bigger and bigger. This is the result of the hardworks of the pioneer Pinoy Bboys and some International Bboys who take time to share their knowledge and skills to each one of us.”

The Red Bull BC One South East Asian cypher will be judged by the 3 internationally renowed B-boys, Cico, Wing and Pele. They have proven their mastery and now their main goal is giving back to the community by spreading the message of Hip Hop culture, where being creative, disciplined and respectful are the most important things.

About the Red Bull BC One International Competition Series

Since its birth in 2004, the Red Bull BC One has become the premier competition in the world of B-Boying. The competition consistently attracts the best in the world and gives any B-Boy, celebrated or unknown, an equal chance to compete through a multi layered global qualification phase.  Red Bull BC One will turn every corner of the world to ensure that dancers from any neighbourhood can get their feet on the floor.

In 2012, there will be over 60 Cyphers, local qualification events in countries as far and wide as Algeria, Italy, Bolivia, Taiwan and Singapore. Winners of those Cyphers will get the chance to compete in one of six continental qualifiers (for Singapore, they will head to New Zealand qualifiers) in an attempt to reach the World Final in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, which will be held in December 2012. At the World Final in Rio, 16 B-Boys will battle each other to determine who is “The One”. Red Bull BC One will turn every corner of the world to ensure that dancers from any neighbourhood can get their feet on the floor.
