Another groundbreaking event is about to conquer the stage for a new sizzling dance battle. It was just last year when BUHAWIAN: The Metro Manila Dance Idols had rocked the dance floor community-based dance groups grooved and hopped their way and experience a great opportunity to encounter with our highly praised dance icon and professionals like Douglas Nierras of Powerdance, Dr. Larry Gabao of NCCA National Committee for Dance, Josie Gullien of Cultural Center of the Philippines, Jay Masta and Lema Diaz of Philippine Allstars.
This year, The Philippine Dance Network will unleash Hip Hop National. A fork of that successful 2008 dance project with the main base that hip-hop influence is evident in movies, television, music, fashion and from the competition conducted, together with Infinit Ready to Drink Cocktail to mount the Hip Hop National Interschool as its initial category on the last week of September, wherein the competition will be exclusive to schools-based dance crews. This is another worthwhile endeavor to advance the aesthetic awareness of the Filipino youth in the art of dance and improve the standards of dancing in the Philippines.
Hip Hop since its first manifestation in the Philippines on 1980 has been serving the dance enthusiasts the purpose of getting seen and heard. This is beyond the breaking, popping and locking but it’s more on the voice that aims to say something. Hip Hop is very popular among the youth because of its street-originated movements and improvisational nature. This genre effectively creates a special bond and healthy camaraderie among youngsters as we see everywhere a typical groups of Hip Hop aspirants dancing and creating unique choreography along with the heart-pumping beat that sourced out from their portable speaker. Evidently, many potential dancers are born in this country and many are well-determined to keep up with their dreams.
Dancing is a great art form that shouldn’t be leveled only as second rate performing arts. Grand opportunities await the young hopefuls and this event would surely prove again that Filipinos are born to conquer the dance floor. Hip Hop National is organized together with OBRA Incorporated,City Government of Taguig, UR 105.9, Max FM 103.5, XFM 92.3, Mellow Touch 94.7, Daily Tribune, Business Mirror, Manila Standard, Inquirer.net, Philstar.net Circuitmag.net and UNTV.
