WATCH OUT FOR MAXIMUM GROOVITY 5 THIS SEPTEMBER 26, 2009!

Are you ready for this?
Drums roll, feet stomp to the rhythm, and hearts pound as MegaEvents Manila, in line with its 10th anniversary, brings you the latest installment of the hottest dance craze in town – Maximum Groovity Year 5!
Just like previous years, the 2009 competition will bring the most talented dance groups from the top universities in the Metro competing for the top prize. Get ready to be blown away by a showcase of talents in various forms of dancing – hiphop, jazz, ballet, or a fusion of different styles. The contest will be held on September 26, 2009 in Crossroad Convenarium at Crossroad 77 Mo. Ignacia St., Quezon City. Cash prizes and bragging rights await the winners; and a night of spectacular show, music, and excitement await the audience. This is the fifth Maximum Groovity competition, and promises an even better, bigger, and bolder event!
This groundbreaking contest was launched on 2004, with 15 dance troupes from different colleges and universities competing. UP Filipiniana of University of the Philippines – Diliman emerged as the winner for their grand theatrical dance piece. Miriam College’s Company of One, doing a hiphop routine and UP Diliman’s Dansa, performing a jazz dance, bagged the 1st and 2nd runner-up trophies respectively. The premier dance guru Douglas Nierras (yes, The Douglas Nierras) was a member of the distinguished panel of judges.
The success of the first run was only exceeded by the second one in 2005, when a leading fitness center tied up with MegaEventsManila to present a grander event. The second year only featured hiphop, and the winner became the country’s official delegate for the World Hiphop Competition. ALL STARS came away as the winner of both Maximum Groovity and the World Hiphop Competition, and is now known both locally and internationally.
The third and fourth editions held in 2007 and 2008 went back to the original concept – an inter-school dance showdown showcasing different styles of dancing. In 2007 Douglas Nierras returned to the judging panel, joined by Jay Masta, a master in street and breakdancing. Ateneo’s CADS Street claimed the title for 2007. In 2008, various groups won different honors. UP Manila Indayog was the Sugarfree and Blue’s People’s Choice Award winner, while AMA Dance Troupe, La Salle Jazz Company, TIP QC Talents Guild were the runners-up. First-timer Ramon Magsaysay HS New Systems Dance Troupe, practically jumping off the stage, came away as the Champion.
This year’s event will reunite past winners, and competitors. Let us wait and see who brings “it” to the floor, and will have the claim as the Maximum Groovity Ultimate Grand Champion!

Hey – you might wanna check out the Dance Fabulous challenge – http://www.dancefabulouschallenge.com
is there an entrance fee for this? and can we take photos or videos?
Yes, there’s an entrance fee – 200(orchestra) & 100(balcony). But you can take photos and videos
This time pls.make sure that all of the contestants of the participating schools are all BONAFIDE STUDENTS! Please INVESTIGATE last year’s champions Ramon Magsaysay’s New System Crew for all of us know that they were all out of school students from DIFFERENT schools!!! That was totally unfair and disappointing!
cool. thanks for the reply. I will def be there to document it too.
oh, what time does this start?
Hi, what are the contact details?
Please stand by for further updates.
we will do our best to make this competition fair and just, each group now is required to submit their official documents from the school that they represent.
THE CHAMPION LAST YEAR SHOULD’VE BEEN ONE FROM THE RUNNERS UP. GROOVITY SHOULD HAVE BEEN FAIR, NEWSYSTEM REALLY AMAZED EVERYBODY BUT, THE REAL WINNER BECAME PART OF THE RUNNERS UP. WHY WERE THEY DEBATING BEFORE THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE WINNERS? IT’S BECAUSE OF THAT, WHY WAS THERE A TIE? WHERE THERE SHOULDN’T HAVE BEEN IF THEY JUST BECOME FAIR. THE TWO JUDGES AGREED WHO THE REAL WINNER IS. WE HOPE THAT THE NEXT GROOVITY WILL BECOME FAIR TO ALL THE COMPETITORS. WE RESPECT U GUYS! THANKS. I JUST WANNA SHOUT OUT TO THE REAL WINNER, MAYBE THEY DON’T KNOW THAT THEY ARE THE REAL WINNER, POOR GUYS… HOPEFULLY THE NEXT TYM WE SEE YOU ON GROOVITY YOU WILL STILL KEEP ROCKIN D DANCE FLOOR. Eveybody who watched last year’s groovity knew that ur the winner. the underdog.
