The National Committee on Dance of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts has been spearheading the celebration of the International Dance Day with the holding of the Annual National Dance Congress and Festival. With the great success of the 2008 National Dance Congress and International Dance Day, the National Committee on Dance endeavored into organizing the Dance Xchange: The Philippine International Dance Workshop and Festival. Dance Xchange showcases the unique dances of each country to facilitate cultural understanding and aims to provide new ideas and inspiration that will stimulate the creativity of the dance educators, directors and choreographers and strengthen network among dance organizations and diplomatic relations among the participating countries. Indeed, the Dance Xchange is a fitting event to realize the inspiring message of Akram Khan and the aspiration of all dance artists – that of giving deeper value and high esteem for the art of Dance. |

Sayaw Tayo, the Philippine’s first Hip Hop convention was a success! It was held in Crossroads 77 last May 23 with hundreds of dancers participating. The event do not have just performances but talks like how to train your body to function well in street dancing. If you want to check out a copy of the slides used, Nina here got a couple of snaps for you guys.
If you weren’t able to attend the convention, you just missed a hell of performances from LSDC-Street, The Crew, and Team Vibe plus the hottest up and coming crews in Musiqality, Flipendemik Crew, and Excess Baggage.
